Someone Listens without Judgement
In Thailand, many underprivileged psychiatric patients have long had no safe space to express their pain or frustrations. Offering them the opportunity to speak and be heard is the first step toward healing. This simple yet powerful idea became the inspiration behind Bench With Ears, a project by Sati App.
Project Bench with Ears
Bench with Ears strengthens community-based mental health care in Thailand by training local volunteers to provide basic psychological support and connect individuals with professional services. The project develops practical models and coordinated processes that enhance awareness, reduce stigma, and promote accessible, sustainable mental wellness. Aligned with national policies for a violence-free society, it also creates safe community spaces — “benches with ears” — where people can speak openly, be heard without judgment, and access mental health support with reduced financial barriers.
Sati App
Sati App is a Thai social enterprise dedicated to improving access to mental health care and emotional support. Through its free mobile application, trained volunteer listeners provide safe, judgment-free spaces for people to share their feelings. Complemented by e-learning mental health first aid courses and the “Bench With Ears” initiative—transforming public spaces into open listening zones—Sati fosters empathy, connection, and awareness. Working with public and private partners, it strives to create a society where everyone can access mental health support equally.
